Helping Hands Penan is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which aims to highlight the difficulties faced by the Penan tribe - Sarawak's nomadic residents who survive on forest resources. However, their livelihood is threatened by ongoing logging and government efforts to settle them. Therefore, Helping Hands Penan endeavours to provide families with employment opportunities and help Penan children receive a proper education within a safe environment.
The Edison Hotels lend its support for this initiative by selling handcrafted Penan bags that are made of durable plastic hence they are strong and washable. Available in a host of vibrant colours and attractive designs, they are stylish and practical for daily use. All proceeds will go towards aiding the Penan community. Contributing to this good cause is easy - every purchase helps bring members of this community one step closer to a better life.

On 29 July 2016, the annual month-long George Town Festival (GTF) launched its Arts for Humanity project which aspires to make art and culture accessible to all as well as propel ASEAN artists into the international art scene. It also serves as a platform for both Malaysian and ASEAN artists to showcase their talents. According to festival director Joe Sidek, international shows are incorporated into GTF as a source of inspiration and to increase everyone's exposure to arts and culture from all walks of life.
In line with the goals of the Arts for Humanity project, The Edison Hotels has committed to contribute USD1.00 for every room booking received. This project will be funded by GTF's crowdfunding initiative whereby all proceeds will be used to further promote and support the arts and its community.

The Edison George Town, Penang collaborated with renowned timber craft artisan, Arthur Lamon to produce handcrafted trays and accessories made of recycled Malaysian timber. By turning waste timber into usable products, this environmentally-friendly campaign 'Timeless Timber' helps minimize carbon footprint. Besides being more durable and much stronger than new timber, every piece of recycled timber product has a distinct and unique appearance.
The founder of Arthur Lamon Studio, Arthur Lamon upholds the philosophy of creating distinctive pieces which highlight the beauty of the materials and embody uncompromising quality. Inspired by the myriad of cultures, traditions, exotic wood species, Asian furniture and local crafts in Penang, Lamon produced one-off handcrafted pieces that eventually led to the highly successful The Arthur Lamon Collection. With his works prominently featured in the George Town Festival (GTF) and around Penang, this close collaboration is poised to significantly contribute to the arts and environment.
